Mountains Beyond Mountains:

Artwork & Photography from Grand-Bois, Haiti

 

The Batesville Area Arts Council presented “Mountains Beyond Mountains: Artwork and Photography from Grand-Bois, Haiti,” through January 2, 2016. The exhibition, which was organized by Paige Dirksen, Development Consultant to ServeHAITI, features artwork from Grand-Bois, Haiti, along with photographs taken by several photographers who have worked in the mountainous region. The title for the exhibition is derived from the famous Haitian Proverb, “Deye mon, gen mon”, The proverb translates to “Beyond Mountains, there are mountains”, and speaks to Haiti’s challenges as it continues to face political, environmental, and financial issues.
