Gallery Renovation

The Batesville Area Arts Council recently completed the renovation of its new space at 226 E. Main Street, which was formerly Heuer's Shoe Store. It was with great generosity that Barbara Fitzpatrick, owner of Heuer's Shoe Store, donated BAAC's former space (next door to the shoe store) for the past 15 years. Her generous contribution has allowed BAAC to achieve our mission of enriching the community through the arts.

Because of the diligent effors and commitment of Senator David Wyatt and State Representative James McLean, BAAC was a recipient of state general improvement funds, which made the building purchase possible.

Coming Soon... We papered the windows when the renovation began; we wanted the majority of this renovation to be a surprise!	Look what we found! As the renovation continued and we removed the drywall on the left wall, we found this beautiful vintage wooden wall. It has no become our accent wall in the gallery that really gives this place some character.	Wall Work There was a lot of cheese cloth caught up in little nail heads on our accent wall. We had a lot of volunteers help us cut off each little cloth hair so that we could paint it!
What a mess! Taking down all that drywall really left a lot of debris everywhere!	We're getting there! We started getting the floors cleaned up and began preparing the walls for gallery hangings.	New Floors The original flooring was uneven in some places. This was taken when our floors were being leveled.
Office Space Here is the skeleton of our director's new office space!	Office Space 2 The walls are up and the framework for the doors are in place!	Preparation Dr. Tim Lindblom was a big help in a lot of our renovation process. Here he's helping us prepare the flooring area to get our new front desk installed!
Our new desk! We bought our new front desk from the Chamber of Commerce, and what a great addition it is! We also painted our right wall and were also preparing our ventilation system at this point.	TKE Volunteering The Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity of Lyon College came and assisted us in cleaning renovation debris!	Kappa Sigma Volunteering The Kappa Sigma fraternity of Lyon College came and assisted us for much of our renovation. The big group was able to get a lot of work done, which helped us out a great deal- thanks boys!
