Year In Review (1).png

As we reflect on another incredible year for the Batesville Area Arts Council, we are filled with gratitude for the community's continued support, involvement, and appreciation of the arts. Together, we’ve made significant strides in ensuring art remains an accessible part of life in Batesville and the surrounding area.

This year has been historic for BAAC, as we embarked on an extensive renovation of our workshop space. This exciting project will double the capacity of our workshop, relocate our gift shop to a more visible storefront location, and create an additional gallery space to showcase the work of local artists—improvements that will allow us to offer even more dynamic arts experiences for our community. We are thrilled about the future of this new space, and we can’t wait to share it with you in the new year!

Our mission to enrich the community through the arts continued to thrive in many other ways this year. Here’s a look back at some of the highlights from 2024:

BAAC Gallery on Main

This year, the BAAC Gallery on Main hosted seven diverse exhibitions, featuring work from 39 local, regional, and national artists. Additionally, we highlighted the artwork of 43 students in Kindergarten - 12th grade with two student exhibitions following our annual summer art camp.

Community Engagement

We’ve had an extraordinary amount of community engagement this year, with a successful Summer Celebration and our largest Artoberfest yet, featuring over 55 vendors! We also collaborated with Main Street Batesville for a holiday paint party, and with Lyon College to host two Art Walks in Downtown Batesville.

Arts Education

From ghost paintings to gingerbread houses, we hosted six children's workshops and two adult workshops this year, all while under construction with our workshop expansion! Our Arts in Education program brought visiting artists to schools in the Batesville and Southside districts for eight week-long residencies to enrich the education of the children in our community, through poetry, theater, and visual arts.

Looking ahead to 2025, we are filled with excitement for what’s to come. The opening of our new workshop space will offer more opportunities for learning, collaboration, and creativity. This expansion will allow us to further elevate the arts in Batesville and beyond.

However, as a small non-profit organization, we rely on the generosity of individuals like you to make these programs and initiatives possible. Your donation helps cover vital operating costs, supplies, and expenses, ensuring that we can continue to serve students, artists, and community members throughout the year. No gift is too small, and every contribution directly impacts the success of our mission.

Would you consider making a tax-deductible donation to the Batesville Area Arts Council this year? Your support will make a tangible difference to BAAC, and to the lives of many in our community who benefit from the arts.

Thank you for being an essential part of the Batesville Area Arts Council family. Here's to a new year filled with creativity, community, and the boundless possibilities of art.
