As we reflect on another incredible year at the Batesville Area Arts Council, we are deeply grateful for our community’s continued support, involvement, and appreciation of the arts. Together, we’ve made meaningful strides to ensure that art remains an accessible and vital part of life in Batesville and the surrounding area.
Our mission to enrich the community through the arts thrived in many other ways as well. Here’s a look back at some of the highlights from 2025:

A Historic Year for BAAC
This year marked an exciting milestone as we completed renovations and celebrated the grand opening of the BAAC Work/Shop on Main in April 2025. This transformative project expanded our workshop capacity, moved our gift shop into a more visible storefront, and added additional gallery space to showcase local artists. We are thrilled with the success of this new space and inspired by the opportunities for growth it will bring in the year ahead.
BAAC Work/Shop on Main
The Work/Shop on Main is a dynamic new space featuring a workshop area that allows us to offer more classes and hands-on art experiences for all ages. The space also houses our gift shop, showcasing handmade artwork from over 50 local and regional artists and makers. By blending education with a vibrant marketplace, the Work/Shop on Main has become a lively destination that supports artists, engages the community, and strengthens BAAC’s role as a creative hub in downtown Batesville.

Arts Education
From ghost paintings to gingerbread houses, BAAC hosted 11 children's workshops, 14 adult workshops, and four paint parties in our new workshop space this year. Our Arts in Education program brought visiting artists to schools in the Batesville and Southside districts for eight week-long residencies, enriching students’ learning through poetry, theater, and visual arts.

Community Engagement
Community connection was stronger than ever in 2025. We celebrated a successful Summer Celebration, hosted our largest Artoberfest yet with over 40 vendors, collaborated with Main Street Batesville on a holiday paint party, and partnered with Lyon College to host two Downtown Art Walks.
Looking Ahead to 2026
As we look ahead to 2026, we are filled with excitement for what’s to come. With the Work/Shop on Main fully operational, we look forward to growing our arts programming, welcoming new makers into our gift shop, and continuing to expand opportunities for creativity and connection in our community.

As a small nonprofit organization, BAAC relies on the generosity of supporters like you to make this work possible. Your donation helps cover essential operating costs, supplies, and program expenses, ensuring we can continue serving students, artists, and community members year-round.
