10th Annual BAAC National Juried Exhibition

2021 National Juried Exhibition
Eligibility:
The Batesville Area Arts Council’s 2022 National Juried Exhibition is open to all artists 18 and older working in 2D media. Entries must be original works created within the last 5 years. Reproductions not allowed. Works previously exhibited at the BAAC Gallery on Main are ineligible. Artists may submit up to three images with an entry fee of $25 ($20 for BAAC members). Two additional images may be submitted for an additional $5 each. Accepted works will be exhibited at the BAAC Gallery on Main (Batesville, AR) April 26 – June 18, 2022.
Important Dates:
March 14: Entries Due
March 22: Notifications will be sent out
April 19-23: Accepted work delivered via artist, UPS, or USPS
April 26: Exhibition Opens
May 6: Awards Announced
June 18: Exhibition Closes
June 21-25: Artwork pickup/Gallery ships work
Submission Guidelines:
All work must weigh less than 60 lbs and measure no larger than 60” on the longest dimension. Work must be available for the duration of the exhibition. Accepted work must arrive to the BAAC Gallery on Main by April 17, 2021. Works must arrive exhibition ready, complete with hanging wire. No saw-tooth hangers or clip frames will be accepted. Works that differ significantly from the entry may be disqualified. Works may be shipped to or hand delivered to the BAAC Gallery on Main at 226 E Main Street, Batesville, AR 72501. Those being shipped must use plexiglass or acrylic, no glass. Work must use a reusable container and be accompanied by a prepaid return shipping label. Work will be repackaged and shipped back to the artist at the close of the exhibition. Shipment by UPS or USPS only. Hand delivered works not picked up by June 25, 2022 will become the property of the Batesville Area Arts Council.
Insurance:
All art works will be insured while on gallery premises. PLEASE NOTE: Insurance does not cover damage caused during shipping due to any reason. Please insure your work during transit.
Sale of Artwork:
All work must be available for sale during the exhibition. BAAC will retain a commission of 35% on all artwork sold.
Publicity:
BAAC may use images of art work accepted into the exhibition for publicity purposes. Artists agree to allow reproduction of their digital files and or photographs taken of their art for educational, publicity and archival purposes.

1st Place Award- $500 and solo exhibition in the BAAC Gallery on Main
2nd Place Award- $300
3rd Place Award- $200
Purchase Prize Award- $500
Juror:
Kimi Kitada is a curator and arts educator based in Kansas City, MO. Currently, she is the Jedel Family Foundation Curatorial Fellow at Charlotte Street Foundation, where she organizes exhibitions and public programs. Previously, she was Curatorial Assistant at The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles in 2019-2020. From 2014 to 2018, she served as Public Programs & Research Coordinator at Independent Curators International (ICI) in New York. Her recent exhibitions include: With Liberty and Justice at Charlotte Street Foundation, Kansas City (2021); where we came from & where we are going at Transformer, Washington DC (2019); reset at Garis & Hahn, New York (2016). She co-curated Postscript: Correspondent Works at artQ13, Rome (2015); 7×8 Curatorial Conversations at Budapest Art Market, Hungary (2013); and (in)complete at TEMP Art Space, New York (2013). Kitada received a BA in Art History and Classics from Bucknell University and an MA in Museum Studies from NYU.
